Tim Bergland Tim
Bergland FORMER RIGHT WING FOR THE WASHINGTON CAPITALS AND THE TAMPA BAY
LIGHTNING. Tim takes over the head coaching position from brother Scott
who coached the Prowlers for 14 years prior to assuming an Assistant coaching
role. There is no question the wealth of knowledge that Tim brings to the
Prowlers. In addition to playing professional hockey for 10 years Tim was
the head coach of the Fergus Falls Otters which he guided to the State
tournament on a number of occasions. Currently Tim is in charge of
Acceleration Northwest in the beautiful Ralph Engelstad Arena TRF.
In
1997-1998 the Chicago Wolves were Turner Cup Champions in which Tim was a key
player in the Wolves success. Tim was a four year letterman at the University of
Minnesota. Tim (Bergy) served as the Gopher captain his senior year. He was a
Williams Scholar and was named as the gophers unsung hero his senior year. Tim
has had a outstanding carreer as a Prowler and Gopher. He has played
professional hockey for over ten years in the NHL and IHL. Bergy has also been a
member of the US national team in which the placed second in the world cup.
Bergy was nicknamed the "Ironman" in Chicago in which he held a record for games
played. Tim is a hardworking foward both on and off the ice. A big reason for
the "Ironmans" success is his dedication to weight training in the off season.
Bergy has a never say quit attitude and it has been evident throughout his
carreer......
Assistant Coach Scott Bergland
Scott Bergland
is a 1979 graduate of the Lincoln High School Prowlers. Scott continued his
hockey career at Northland College and the College of St. Thomas
were he served as captain his senior year. Scott has been actively involved
in the Thief River Hockey Program at all levels throughout his coaching career.
Coach Bergland was instrumental in taking Northland Community College to its
first Community College state title in 1987-88. In 2006 Coach Bergland
guided the Prowlers to the State tournament for the first time in 40 years. It has always been a dream of
Coach Bergland to coach the Prowler High School hockey team.
